The Amish Cook's Anniversary Book 20 Years of Food, Family, and Faith

Twenty years ago, a young journalism student on assignment in Amish country had a chance meeting with an Amish woman in rural Indiana, and "The Amish Cook" newspaper column was born. The 20th Anniversary of the Amish Cook takes you on a journey through twenty years in the life of an Old Order Amish family, from births, to weddings, to moves and milestones. It is a rare glimpse into Amish culture, as told through the best "The Amish Cook" columns from throughout the years.Two generations of Amish Cooks share their monthly journals, with passages on cooking and gardening, butchering day, family meals and celebrations, hosting weddings and community church services, and more. There are even a few of the Amish Cook's most treasured recipes, as well as full-color photographs of scenes from everyday Amish life. It is a beautiful and moving family memoir that sheds light on a culture that is deeply rooted in family, friends, faith, and food.

Together with editor Kevin Williams, Elizabeth Coblentz founded "The Amish Cook" newspaper column and later coauthored the column's namesake inaugural cookbook. Today, Lovina Eicher, Elizabeth's daughter, pens the column that continues to share Amish culture, tradition, and recipes with a nationally syndicated audience of more than 130 newspapers throughout the United States. Lovina lives in Michigan with her husband, Joe, and their eight children. Kevin lives in Ohio.
