Anchorage in Concrete Construction

A comprehensive treatment of current fastening technology including inserts, post-installed anchors, as well as power-actuated fasteners, in both concrete and masonry. The section "Fastenings in Concrete" describes in detail these elements together with their behavior and load-bearing capacities in cracked and uncracked concrete, while also considering the effects of corrosion and fire, as well as earthquake and shock loading. It concludes with an assessment of fastenings, illustrated by numerous examples. The "Fastenings in Masonry" section goes on to deal with several different types of masonry and describes the load bearing characteristics with an assessment of plastic fastenings and injection-molded anchors, including criteria for selecting the correct fastening.

Rolf Eligehausen studied structural engineering at the Technische UniversitSt Braunschweig and gained his doctorate from the UniversitSt Stuttgart. Following two years of research at the University of California Berkeley, he became professor for fastenings technology at the UniversitSt Stuttgart in 1984.<br> Professor Eligehausen is a member of numerous national and international expert commissions in the fields of steel-reinforced concrete and fastening technologies and the author of a large number of essays on these topics.<br> <br> Rainer MallTe studied structural engineering at the Technische UniversitSt Braunschweig and gained his doctorate from the UniversitSt Stuttgart. <br> Between 1980 and 1987 he was head of Prof. Rehm's engineering company in Munich, before becoming head of development in fastening elements at fischer in Waldachtal. Since 1996 he has been head of research at the fischer group of companies.<br> <br> John Silva gained his Master of Civil Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley and is a structural engineer. He worked for ca. 10 years in San Francisco at two renowned engineering firms concentrating on inter alia fastenings during earthquakes. He worked in the development center at Hilti for four years and currently works in their San Francisco offices.
