Did you know that many of Earth’s animals have superpowers? These behaviors and physical traits are called adaptations, and animals use them in amazing ways. Some are expert escape artists. A former children’s book editor and book buyer at Malaprop’s Bookstore/Cafe in Asheville, North Carolina, Amy Cherrix now writes fulltime. Her books include the nonfiction In the Shadow of the Moon, Backyard Bears, Eye of the Storm, Animal Architects, and Animal Superpowers. She earned a master’s degree in children’s literature from Simmons University. Frann Preston-Gannon is an illustrator and designer.
