Application of Uncertainty Analysis to Ecological Risks of Pesticides

While current methods used in ecological risk assessments for pesticides are largely deterministic, quantifiable results garnered using probabilistic methods are attracting growing interest from industries and governments. This book identifies which methods are most appropriate for pesticide assessment and explores their appropriateness as a common suite for general use. The authors discuss classical and Bayesian approaches, various types of Monte Carlo analysis, first order error analysis, probability bounds analysis, interval analysis, and fuzzy mathematics. They then examine how these methods can be used in assessments for other environmental contaminants.
