Applied Linguistics in Action: A Reader presents students with an applied linguistics framework for the analysis of real-world problems in which language is a central issue. Guy Cook is Professor of Language and Education at the Open University. His books include Genetically Modified Language (2004), Applied Linguistics (2003) and the Discourse of Advertising (2001) Sarah North is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Language Studies at the open university. Recent publications include Exploring English Grammar (2009) and chapters in A Companion to English Language Studies (2010) and Language and Literacy: Functional Approaches (2006).
