Dugan Laird finished the revised manuscript for the Second Edition of Approaches to Training and Development shortly before his death at the end of 1984. One of the most distinguished authors and consultants in the field, Mr. Laird began his career as an instructor with United Airlines and went on to operate his own consulting business in Decatur, Georgia. He was a columnist for Training magazine; a consultant to numerous major companies; a teacher at Northwestern and Minnesota universities; and the recipient of honors from the American Society for Training and Development. A recent survey of Training magazine voted him one of the top ten trainers in the United States. He will be sadly missed by the whole training community.
