Inside: What you CAN do to help the homeless. "Arlington's Dream" is a humanistic children's book concerning the homeless population. The story begins with a young boy moving to the city and recognizing the homeless. He questions his mother about who these people are and why they are living on the streets. Her answers do not completely satisfy Arlington, as he struggles to know more. In comes, Krisnass, an omnipresent character who meets up with Arlington in his dreams. Krisnass takes Arlington on a dream journey to meet some of his friends who are or have been homeless. Arlington finds out they all have their own and different stories as to why they are homeless. It is not because they are lazy or mentally ill. He learns that they are people like you and me who deserve the same compassion, empathy, understanding and love as we do.
