The Athenian Connection

In their first case together, Achilles' Helmet, detectives Pierre Rousseau from France and Antonia Antoniarchis from Greece clashed with an Italian gang of tomb robbers - tombaroli - who were attempting to smuggle an important artefact out of Greece. Now the same tombaroli are behind an attempt to steal a valuable fourteenth century Greek icon. A French gang of jewel thieves becomes involved and the two cases intertwine with fatal consequences for both sides. Rousseau and Antoniarchis need to discover the link between the two gangs and to find out why the French gang leader has drawn attention to the fact he has escaped from prison. Who are they holding in prison if not him? When a local millionaire's wife is kidnapped with their son, the tombaroli warn Pierre and Antonia not to interfere. But is the kidnap as straightforward as it seems and what exactly do the kidnappers want? Has an icon been stolen and if so, from where? Is there an American connection?
