Augustine Confessions Volume 1: Introduction and Text

A detailed commentary on the Confessions of Augustine in three volumes. A revised Latin text of the Confessions appears in Volume I and forms the basis of a detailed line-by-line commentary (Volumes II-III) designed to elucidate the many layers of meaning in the work. It draws attention to the influences in the Confessions of other texts of the Greek and Latin traditions and looks at the place of the Confessions in Augustine'sown life and in the history of Christian literature.
