Providing concise, informative, and fascinating descriptions of prominent Australians who contributed their vision and energies to a growing nation, this new volume contains more than 650 biographies and is the first of two volumes for the decade 19811990. Presenting a colorful mosaic of Australian life, this lively reference includes profiles of prominent figures as well as people from all walks of life, including an anthropologist, a coast watcher, a radio producer, a restaurateur, and a union organizer. The lives of five Indigenous Australians and a number of emigres from eastern Europe are also included.
