The recent war with Iraq has had the greatest impact on journalism since the Vietnam War. Philip Seib also describes the changing technologies and ethics of modern warfare, suggests ways journalists might carry out their job better, and offers a new perspective on the role of the news media in a high-tech, globalized, and dangerous world.

Philip Seib is the Lucius W. Nieman Professor of Journalism at Marquette University, where he focuses on international news coverage, media ethics, and new technologies. He is also the director of Marquette's Nieman Symposia, which examine current journalism issues. Seib is the author of Headline Diplomacy: How News Coverage Affects Foreign Policy; Taken for Granted: the Future of U.S.-British Relations; Going Live: Getting the News Right in a Real-time, Online World; The Global Journalist: News and Conscience in a World of Conflict; and other books. Seib is also a veteran print and television journalist.
