Bioelectronics From Theory to Applications

Professor Itamar Willner heads the Institute of Chemistry of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He completed his Ph.D. studies in Chemistry there in 1978, and after a postdoctoral stay with M. Calvin at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1978 to 1981, he returned to the institute of Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1982 and was appointed as professor in 1986. He acts as a member of several editorial boards, and is recipient of the Kolthoff Award and the Max-Plank Research Award.<br> His current research interests include light-induced electron transfer processes and artificial photosynthesis, molecular electronics and opto-bioelectronics, supra-molecular chemistry, nanoscale chemistry and monolayer and thin-film assemblies.<br> <br> Dr. Eugenii Katz holds a position as Senior Research Associate at the Hebrew Universty of Jerusalem since 1994. He received his Ph.D. from the A.N. Frumkin Institute of Electrochemistry in Moscow, Russia, and was a research associate at the Institute of Photosynthesis of the Russian Academy of Sciences at Pushchino, Russia, until 1991. He spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, then one year each as visiting scientist at the Instituto de Catalisis (CSIC) in Madrid, Spain, and as a Humboldt Fellow at Munich Technical University in Freising, Germany.<br> His research interests are focused on biosensors and bioelectronics, interfacial phenomena and electrochemistry, photoelectronic systems as well as the modification of electrode surfaces.
