The Rope Trick

As a boy, Lloyd Alexander liked to amuse his family and friends with magic tricks. Then he grew up to be the acclaimed author of more than thirty books for young people. His many honors include a Newbery Medal for The High King, a Newbery Honor for The Black Cauldron -- both in the Prydain Chronicles -- and National Book Awards for The Marvelous Misadventures of Sebastian and Westmark. His most recent book, The Gawgon and The Boy, which was based on his childhood, was named a School Library Journal Best Book of the Year and an ALA Notable Children's Book.
