Centuries after civilization destroyed itself in a final war, Fors was driven from his clan for the crime of being a mutant. Though his people had long combed the remnants of the old world to regain lost knowledge, the land to the north was taboo. Having nothing to lose, Fors and his feline companion trekked north -- toward incredible danger and a staggering discovery. Elsewhere, Sander also searched: for the Before People, said to have survived the great devastation. Then he met Fanyl, who coveted the lost knowledge for her own purpose.
