Brain-Based Communication Disorders

Brain-Based Communication introduces the reader to the major clinically recognized types of acquired speech/language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders encountered by clinicians working with child and adult neurological cases. Leonard L. LaPointe, PhD. received his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Colorado. He currently occupies an endowed distinguished professor chair, the Francis Eppes Professor of Communication Science and Disorders, at Florida State University in Tallahassee. He has served invited visiting professorships in Australia, Hong Kong, and New Zealand and lectures worldwide. Bruce E. Murdoch, PhD, DSc., is head of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and Director of the Motor Speech and Neurogenic Language Disorders Research Centre at The University of Queensland, Australia. He has published 10 books on neurological aspects of human communication disorders and over 350 peer-reviewed journal articles. He is an international expert and consults worldwide on neurogenic communication disorders. Julie A. C. Stierwalt, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Science and Disorders, Florida State University, and a member of the Research Faculty, TMH-FSU Neurolinguistic and Neurocognitive Research Center, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Tallahassee, Florida. She is a recognized expert in dysphagia, motor speech disorders, and medical speech-language pathology and invited lecturer on medical speech-language pathology assessment and treatment.
