In this Decadent-era story, author Louis Dumur casts his gaze on the past to present a portrait of France during the Revolution and of some of the most alluring important figures of that time period. Cynicaland fun as well as moving and sentimental, the tale features well-known writers from the late 18th century as main characters and deals with themes of love, friendship, morality, and vanity. Passages by other French authors are included, in what can be considered a nearly metaliterary exercise. En esta historia decadentista, el autor Louis Dumur mira hacia atrás para presentar un retrato de la Francia de la Revolución y de algunos de los personajes más seductores de esa época. Cínico y divertido, así como emocionante y sentimental, el relato es protagonizado por algunos conocidos escritores de finales del siglo XVIII y aborda los temas del amor, la amistad, la moralidad y la vanidad. Louis Dumur was a Swiss novelist, poet, and playwright who cofounded the French magazine La Pléiade and the updated Mercure de France, the latter for which he was the editor in chief and later the secretary general. His works include the novels Albert, Le Centenaire de Jean-Jacques, Nach Paris!, and Les Défaitistes; the poetry collections Lassitudes and Néva; and the plays La Motte de terre and La Nébuleuse.
