What would you do if you were wrongly placed in a mental institution in 1985? Would you try to escape? Could you? Pete, Don, and Debbie find themselves in this predicament. Reminiscent of The Catcher in the Rye but written before its author had ever read that work, Cagey is the story of three teens trapped but not powerless, working to change their circumstances. The other two stories in this collection, "Chasing Kerouac" and "Neighbors", offer wry commentaries on the alienation of modern life and what makes us tick.
