And Candy Lived

Carole Sarkan is a retired elementary school teacher who also wrote and published the book "And Candy Smiled." "And Candy Smiled" is a heart-warming story about Carole's dog Candy, who was hit by a car, lost her front leg, and fought courageously to live. "And Candy Lived" picks up the story years later after Candy's last full year on earth. This simple, positive story is about how Candy's soul ventures back to this world to help her earth family and friends. Emily Christoff-Flowers's rich and swirling illustrations make Candy's story come alive. "And Candy Lived" celebrates life eternal and the love between a special dog and her family.

Carole Sarkan is a retired school teacher who has always had a passion for writing, music, history, and art. After college she combined these interests and became an elementary teacher. Since the age of six she has always wanted to write children's books. Now she is fulfilling that dream. With the partnership of Emily Christoff-Flowers as her illustrator, they are embarking on a new adventure about Carole's English Springer Spaniel dog, Candy. Carole comes from a family of artists. Her grandparents were song writers, her mother and father were musicians who loved writing eloquent letters, and her brother Jim Grabill is a prolific poet and teacher in Portland, Oregon. Carole is originally from Bowling Green, Ohio and currently lives with her family in Grand Rapids, Ohio. She taught writing, reading and history in Bowling Green, Ohio.
