Care Planning and Delivery in Intellectual Disability Nursing

Care planning and delivery form an essential part of everyday practice for all intellectual disability nurses. This book explores how nurses can enable people with intellectual disabilities to obtain good quality care. It encourages them to reflect on their practice and to use the best possible guidance to plan their professional care.The first section of the book explores care planning, care pathways, person-centred care planning, life planning, legal and ethical implications of care planning and risk assessment. The second section explores care planning and delivery in more specialist settings including: forensic settings, mental health settings, palliative care settings, community nursing settings, and residential settings as well as planning for good health and for people with profound and/or complex needs.
