This book provides analytical methods and guidelines for solving vibration problems in industrial plants. Vibration analysis techniques are explained and the theory is supplemented by case histories. Each case history demonstrates a practical example in which analytical methods were applied to solve a vibration problem from the author's industrial and consulting experience. The book covers both fixed and rotating equipment, as well as pressure vessels. Simple analytical approaches are emphasized, but sophisticated methods are summarized and explained in cases in which they were necessary to resolve an issue. The emphasis on practical applicability and simplicity, rather than theory, differentiates this book from other vibration texts.
ANTHONY SOFRONAS, DEng, PE, has spent the past forty-five years troubleshooting field failures and designing machinery for ExxonMobil, General Electric, and the Bendix Corporation. He is currently a consultant to industry, presenting seminars worldwide under the aegis of his company Engineered Products. Dr. Sofronas has published many technical papers and articles, including a bimonthly column for Hydrocarbon Processing dedicated to engineering case histories. He is also the author of Analytical Troubleshooting of Process Machinery and Pressure Vessels (Wiley).
