As a young child Gabrielle passed her days lost to the realms of fantasy. In the depths of her childish dreams she managed to escape the dreary confines of her father's secluded borderland keep. Besides her dreams the only other brightness in her life is her childhood friend, Ayden of Dermont, who grows to dearly love Gabrielle but never finds the courage to voice his affection, until its too late. As time passes them by Ayden must leave Gabrielle to make his own way in the world, and Gabrielle finds herself married to a monster of a man who's devious past is now threatening her very life. Through a tragic twist of fate Ayden is brought back into Gabrielle's life and finds himself determined to free her of a husband who would surely bring his childhood friend to ruin. In the midst of their treacherous escape they both must battle a past full of regret and loss, even as they struggle to free themselves of the relentless, power hungry man who will stop at nothing to gain all he desires.
