This publication gives a comparative analysis of school-based management reforms in four Central American countries, relating to the following: EDUCO in El Salvador, PRONADE in Guatemala, PROHECO in Honduras, and Centros Autonomos in Nicaragua. It examines how these models have expanded community participation and school decision-making autonomy; the effect of community and school empowerment on the teaching-learning process; and the impact of variations in reform design, country contexts and teaching resources.
