Constitutional Politics in the European Union The Convention Moment and its Aftermath

This volume examines the making of the Constitutional Treaty of the European Union. It does so by paying attention to the way in which the political actors operated within the Convention, by analysing civil society's input, and by tracking the development of the constitutional text beyond the Convention itself, through the IGC process and within the EU legal system. In discussing the European experience, the authors also address the question of whether its transnational character represents a new development for the theory of constitution making.

Dario Castiglione teaches Political Theory at the University of Exeter, UK. Her publications on gender equality policy include journal articles, edited books, chapters in collective volumes, and a book on The Europeanisation of Spanish Gender Equality Policy (2004) Nieves Perez-Solorzano Borragan is Senior Lecturer in European Politics in the Politics Department at the University of Bristol, Secretary of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) and a member of the ESRC Centre for Competition Policy at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK Miriam Aziz is Associate Professor in European and Comparative Administrative Law at the University of Siena, Italy. She has published numerous articles on European law and is the author of The Impact of European Rights on National Legal Cultures (2004)
