1898. This exquisite book gives the history of Empress Josephine Bonaparte, wife to Napoleon. The story starts at the beginning of the Empire that Napoleon fought to rule, takes us through the coronation, on a journey in Italy, to the marriage of Prince Eugene, all the way to the end of 1807. We are present at the death of Young Napoleon, and the end of the war. We see the court at Fontainebleau and meet Pope Pius VII, as well as a myriad of other historical figures.
