The Cultural Context of Human Resource

This volume presents an insight into the understanding of human resource development (HRD) in various cultural contexts. This book looks at how culture shapes our expectations for what is appropriate in the workplace and aims to broaden the reader's knowledge of HRD by exploring the boundaries of existing theories.

CAROL D. HANSEN is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Development at Georgia State University. She studies the cultural and cross-cultural frames that shape belief systems and about employee and organizational development. She has taught and conducted research with universities in Europe and Africa, and she was a Fulbright scholar to India. She also served as an HRD branch chief at the United States Department of State.

YIH-TEEN LEE is Assistant Professor at IESE Business School at University of Navarra, Spain. His recent research topics include cross-cultural comparative study of person-environment fit, dynamic model of intercultural competences, work design and well-being, and performance determinants of auditors. He has taught cross-cultural management, strategic human resource management, and leadership in MBA and executive programs in Europe, Asia, and the U.S.
