The David and Goliath Factor or How to Represent Yourself in Court

Imagine you have stopped payment on a loan from a BANK and have been sued. You found out your financial advisor is a crook and the manager at the BANK, who has sued you, is in cahoots with your advisor. Your lawyer tells you it will cost you $75,000 or more to go to court and fight the BANK and she is not sure you will win. It feels like you've been kicked in the stomach. You can't breathe and you don't know what to do. Your back is up against the wall because you have listened to the financial advisor and have ended up in massive debt. There is no money to pay a lawyer and you are very sure you do not want to pay this BANK one more cent. Your mind starts to race and consider all the possibilities, but the only one you can come up with is, you have to defend yourself. Your lawyer tells you it is your right to defend yourself in court and so you look at how to do that very thing. This is how you become a Self Represented Lay Litigant. There's a mouthful for you and believe me it is one of the toughest things you might find yourself involved in, but it is do-able. This is where my husband, who is a chiropractor and me who was a free lance make-up artist found ourselves.
