Preview (Chapter 2- That Small, Blue Planet)The wind howled as litter blew across the street. This was anyone's idea of a typical day in America, but as the rain pattered down onto the pavement and the sign of the motel banged against the wall, a brilliant flash that could not possibly be described as lightning lit up the street for several seconds. A Coca-Cola can in the wind suddenly froze in midair as time stood still for this moment. It was then that the figure arrived. This figure, at first sight, was nothing out of the ordinary. Clad in a long grey raincoat and a brown fedora perched upon his head, he didn't particularly stand out. But the device on his wrist certainly did. Emerging from the depths of the shadows, the Stranger started to walk towards the motel.Taking brisk steps as he glanced down at the device on his wrist, it read;"FRIDAY 13th JULY, YEAR 2012, TIME: 19:00 HOURS, 15 MINUTES, 37 SECONDS, SPACE JUMP COMPLETE, SMALL BLUE PLANET.""Hmm...""That's good. Only a time delay of two microseconds." He thought to himself."They won't even know I've gone."There was always something about this small blue planet that intrigued him so. Although Sven Chandra was always told that the system beyond Alpha Centauri and it's neighbours were strictly off-limits as much as he was aware that his space-time warping device was, he always disobeyed any orders that related to his carefree excursions to this planet that Mission Control gave him. Known only to him, this planet's true name was Earth, and it's dominant species were sore like him he'd even dreamed that he'd come from this place at some point. The Stranger shook his head as if to shrug his thoughts, climbing the creaking wooden steps, he pushed upon the door to the motel and stepped inside.
