When Texas artist Tessa Pryce attends the museum horror movie exhibit "Ghouls & Glamour Girls," she accidentally awakens Butehamun, sorcerer-priest of Seth, Ancient Egypt's God of Chaos.Tessa has unleashed catastrophic evil, for if Butehamun passes the demon-guarded Gates of Night in Ancient Egypt's Underworld, he will become immortal - and unstoppable - in every century, including Tessa's own.Pursuing Butehamun back in time to Ancient Egypt, Tessa is plunged into multiple assassination attempts against Pharaoh Amenhotep III during his Jubilee. The last is warrior dwarf Pyrnyankhu, surviver of the torture pits of Egypt's political enemy, the Mittani. These companions pursue Butehamun from the Ancient Egyptian Underworld to modern Texas, and from India's Cawnpore massacre to a séance in Victorian London.
