The noble stag with his magnificent antlers, the agile and fearless bighorn ram, and the vulnerable doe and fawn are some of the most picturesque creatures in the animal world. These, along with such relatives as gazelles, impala, bison, and giraffes, are captured here in vivid action-photographs and a lively, informative text. While these animals are found in widely varying habitats and are strikingly different in appearance, they have one thing in common: rumination. This is a means of processing plant matter for consumption, commonly known as "chewing the cud."
