Demon of the Woods

Deep in the boreal forest a creature lurks in the darkness. Silently it waits for the lone car that travels down that God forsaking highway in the middle of nowhere. Evil eyes narrow as approaching headlights illuminate the asphalt. The time is near at hand, and the wait would soon be over. Twenty years had passed since the first one, now the daughter; her daughter, would be next. The creature nearly pitied the woman behind the wheel of the speeding car, for only it knew of what was to come, and the hell that would be unleashed upon the small community that she was so desperate to find. That was if she survived the night. With a quite whoosh of air, the creature leapt from its perch on the huge pine bough, and skimmed across the neighboring treetops and into the darkness. Silently it hastened toward the vehicle and the woman who was marked for death.
