Detour

Detour is a fishing town on the remote north-western coast of Australia. With a long history of missing persons, wrecked boats, storms and racial tension, the government has installed an advanced communications centre to monitor the area. Transferred from Sydney to manage the centre is Leon Spar, a man struggling to cope since the death of his wife.The locals hate him, and the isolation of the outback becomes his haven from a town run by smugglers, aboriginal superstitions and political agenda's. His only friend is Herne, a policeman who has two ambitions in life, to save his town from economic collapse and to keep Leon alive.When two fishermen disappear and their game fishing boat turns up wrecked Leon is forced to confront his demons and the town, as he battles to find himself and unravel the terrible secrets that the fishing community harbour.
