With the prospect of a new career opportunity, I decided upon my long time desire to share with my wife the prospect of being 'mine host', as the proprietors and licensees of The Dew Drop Inn, a rural 'olde-worlde' pub and restaurant establishment we knew of, and intended to purchase in the heart of the Kent countryside. The licensed trade is not an easy career. As a customer it is all to easy to be misled in thinking it is a profession full of glamour and high reward with minimum effort seen from the customer side of the bar. On the contrary, it is unbelievably hard work, requiring dedication and total commitment from everyone concerned with the venture.The intention of this book is to record some of our personal experiences in the initial year we owned The Dew Drop Inn. The accounts and events are all true and factual.
