Die Mosaiken Der Acheiropoietos-Basilika in Thessaloniki

The main focus of this study is a detailed analysis of the mosaic decoration of the Acheiropoietos Basilica in Thessaloniki. This then forms the basis for a consideration of a series of further questions on the early Byzantine mosaics in the metropolis, and in particular their problematic chronology. A number of mosaics from the entire Mediterranean, which have to date received little attention, are also taken into account. Providing as it does a corpus of the decorative mosaics in the soffits of arches of the 5th and 6th centuries, the volume is of fundamental importance.
