Distillers Grains: Production, Properties, and Utilization

Written to address the growth of distillers dried grains with soluble (DDGS) as a major feed ingredient in North America and abroad, this reference provides a complete overview of its traditional use and future employment. It provides information on the U.S. fuel ethanol industry and presents traditional and additional uses of DDGS, including feed for cattle, swine, poultry, fish, and other animals. The book includes information on the physical and chemical aspects of DDGS, and explains its composition and nutritional properties. The authors discuss new uses for DDGS such as its availability as its potential as a biofiller in plastic. About the Author:Keshun Liu was recently honored by the American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS) as the recipient of the 2010 Award of Merit: Keshun Liu has been an active AOCS Member since 1992. Over the years, he has provided substantial service to AOCS and he has shown professional dedication and marked leadership in program development. He was Chairperson of the Protein and Co-Products Division, along with serving the same Division as Vice-Chairperson, Secretary/Treasurer, and Member-at-Large. He is an author and editor of several AOCS Press books, one of which is available in Chinese translation. In addition, he has served as a contributing editor for inform and as a journal reviewer for JAOCS. Liu's leadership extends to program development. He has organized or co-organized at least 18 symposia and delivered more than 35 presentations at the AOCS Annual Meeting & Expo, bringing timely topics to the Annual Meeting. He has furthered AOCS international intentions through the organization of CISCE 2002 in Beijing,China.
