Jewell Parker Rhodes, the author of the novels Voodoo Dreams and Magic City, received a National Endowment for the Arts award in fiction and a Yaddo Creative Writing Residency. A professor of creative writing and American literature at Arizona State University, she lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.
