After two hundred years of exile, King Maric has allowed the Grey Wardens to return to Ferelden. As soon as they arrive, they alert the King to a grim situation: one of their own has turned and fled to the Deep Roads, intending to join the horrific darkspawn dwelling there. Reluctantly leading the Wardens through the passages he traveled so many years before, the group chases after a deadly secret that will threaten to destroy not only the Grey Wardens, but the Kingdom above as well.
