Dressing to Deceive

Dressing to Deceive, a gathering of poems, attends to Virginia Woolf's belief that, "It is in our idleness, in our dreams, that the submerged truth sometimes comes to the top. " Each of these poems was written while sitting and musing in public, at cafe tables, benches in parks, and sometimes even while standing on the corner watching the world speed by. They are truth of the highest order, and while written by a gay man and thus reflective of a gay man's vision, they are accessible to anyone who feels, as Robert Frost did, that "A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness."
