An Elephant's Track and Other Stories

Mollie Evelyn Moore Davis nee Mary Evalina Moore (1852-1909) was nationally the bestknown Texas woman writer of the nineteenth century. Born in Alabama, she moved with her family to Texas in 1855. She usually was known professionally as M. E. M. Davis. Her works include: Minding the Gap and Other Poems (1867), Poems (1872), In War Times in la Rose Blanche (1888), Antiques: A Rare Collection From Old Creole Families (1894), An Elephant's Track and Other Stories (1897), The Wire Cutters (1899), The Queen's Garden (1900), Jaconetta and Her Loves (1901), A Bunch of Roses (1903), The Little Chevalier (1903), The Price of Silence (1907), The Moons of Balbanca (1908) and Selected Poems (1927).
