Emerging Web Services Technology

This book contains initial results of innovative and sometimes controversial emerging Web services research ideas. It covers a wide spectrum of active research areas like Model Driven Engineering for SOA, Mobility and Services, Dynamic Web Service Discovery and Composition, Service Management, and Semantic Web, just to name a few. As Web services technology is becoming widely established in enterprise computing applications, Web service research is a very important and still very productive research domain. This book gives a timely report on the leading edge of this work by collecting selected and revised papers originally presented at the Workshop on Emerging Web Service Technology (WEWST) held in conjunction with the 4th European Conference on Web Services (ECOWS'06) last December 2006 in Zurich, Switzerland. Acting as the natural extension to the main ECOWS conference, the main goal of the WEWST workshop is serving as a forum for providing early exposure and much needed feedback to grow and establish original and emerging research ideas within the Web Services community. The wide variety of tools, techniques and technological solutions presented in WEWST share one common feature: they advance the current Web Services research in new directions by introducing new and sometimes controversial ideas into the field.
