Epiphanies From The Emergency

Epiphanies from the Emergency is a harvest from the accumulation of narrative, description and reflection that is two decades of daily journals, nourished from a stream of kayaker's seascapes, wilderness foot trails, late night motorcycle highways and mountain glaciers and icefields. Equally, that stream is one of Puccini arias, Shostakovitch string quartets, of poems of Rilke and Lorca. Within the matrix of daily pages of lists and chores and planned way stations there sublimate lacunae of condensed speech, a fleeting capture of experience by turns lyric, descriptive or given completely to reverie. Laid down like dream cards, experience cards, this tissue of selections opens on a landscape both inner and outer "of deserts and mountains and peoples and time, where sink and vanish the armadas of empire."
