ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

An illustrative tribute to those women who have always been secondary characters in lives of others: the wife of, the mother of, or the grandmother of.

“When I told my grandmother Maruja that I was going to make a comic based on her life, she replied that I had better write a love story. When I said the same to my grandmother Herminia, she was very happy and said ‘Yes, sure, baby.’ So, tape recorder in hand, I went to see my grandmother Maruja so she could explain, for example, what she hid that flower box and the reason she was obsessed with cooking. Then I visited my grandmother Herminia and discovered the importance of her grandmother Hermenegilda and the causes of that peculiar bohemian air. The women of her generation, whom we do not usually care for as they have cared for us, have always been secondary characters in the lives of others: the wife of, the mother of, or the grandmother of. Like Maruja and Herminia. Their anecdotes, their ideas and their worlds are here, in this book, a small tribute aims to make them protagonists.”
