Ethnic Diversity and the Nation State: National Cultural Autonomy Revisited

This book offers a fresh perspective on current academic and political debates around multiculturalism, democracy, the relationship between '¬Ünation'¬" and '¬Üstate'¬" and the political management of ethnic diversity in today'¬"s Europe and beyond. It brings to light the hitherto neglected contribution that Eastern Europe has made to these debates, by examining the concept of National Cultural Autonomy and its practical applications from the turn of the twentieth century until the present day.
