Europe and the Financial Crisis

The global financial and economic crisis has brought about many effects that are still difficult to interpret univocally. This book studies the consequences of the crisis on Europe by examining the effects on the European institutional setup, governance and architecture and by studying in detail the different member countries.

Pompeo Della Posta is Associate Professor in Economic Policy at the University of Pisa, Italy. He is also External Professor at the Stanford Bing Overseas Studies Program in Florence, Italy, where he teaches European Economic and Monetary Integration. His main research interests relate to globalization, the economic and financial crisis strategic interaction among fiscal and monetary policy and authorities, and speculative attacks on fixed exchange rates. He is the author of many articles in refereed journals, as well as being the editor and co-author of several books, including Globalization, Development and Integration: A European Perspective (also published by Palgrave Macmillan). Leila Simona Talani is Associate Professor (Reader) in International Political Economy at King's College London, UK. She previously worked at the London School of Economics and Political Science, the University of Bath and the United Nations in Cairo. Her current research interests focus on globalization and the future of the City of London as well as the political economy of migration flows from southern Mediterranean countries to the European Union. She is the author of The Future of the City of London, and editor of The Global Crash and The Future of the EMU (all published by Palgrave Macmillan), as well as other well-established texts on subjects as various as Egypt, the Balkans and the Maastricht Treaty.
