Evidence-Based Medicine: In Its Place

While doctors through the ages have thought that they had based their practice on evidence, a new movement based on the ideas of the Scottish doctor Archie Cochrane has shown that this might not be the case. The core of evidence based medicine is the formulation of a question relevant to a clinical problem, then researching around the problem, selecting the best type evidence from explicit criteria, and finally the making of decisions on patients values.
