Evolution

This volume deals principally with thegeneralized theory ofevolution and how its principles pertain to the pre-biology world (chemistry, cosmology) and the cultural world (cognition, language, technology, social ethics, and world view). In the second part, the volume addresses four controversial ideas concerning how evolution theory challenges the thinking of the Enlightenment, e.g. questioning how much an ethic based on evolution conflicts with an ethic founded on humanistic ideals.
