The generation of electronic waste, e-waste, around the world is rapidly increasing. Although, some regions, countries, states and cities have developed management systems to deal with this unique type of waste stream, the global e-waste management situation necessitate holistic waste management solutions that views the environmental, social and economic implications of the system. For this reason, the objective of this book is to give the reader (policy-makers, waste managers and researchers involved in the design and implementation of e-waste) a conceptual and practical guide related to the future sustainable management of e-waste. To accomplish this, the book is divided in four sections. The first section focuses on the current global e-waste situation, divided into environmental, social and economic implications. The important issue of material scarcity and its relation with the electronic manufacturing industry and electronic products as well as the present e-waste recycling technologies are introduced in section two. Section three discusses the current e-waste management policies and regulations adopted around the globe. After accomplishing a common understanding of the past and present global status of e-waste, the fourth section explores the future panorama of e-waste systems, including future recycling systems and future product streams and presents sustainable solutions for the future global e-waste situation.
