Emily and David Alman co-founded the Committee to Secure Justice in the Rosenberg Case immediately following the 1951 sentencing of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg to death on charges of nuclear espionage in a case that spawned a world-wide, but ultimately unsuccessful, movement for clemency. In this new analysis of the case, which incorporates a significant amount of new documentary materials and testimonies from involved persons, the Almans allow that Julius Rosenberg (with the best of motivations) participated in passing non-atomic secrets to the Soviet Union during the time that it was a World War II ally, but maintain their stalwart belief in the innocence of the Rosenbergs of treason, and perhaps more importantly, in the corruption of the legal system that brought about their execution.
