An Experiment in Democracy

"An Experiment in Democracy; Work in Progress" is a journey through a class on civic engagement at Indiana University; a service-learning course which offers an introduction to the extended local community for college students. The book features comments on the instructor's intentions, chapters from two students, and excerpts from their reflective writing during the class as they face their fears of conflict through dialogue and deliberation. The class is a foundations course in the Leadership, Ethics, and Social Action (LESA) program, an academic minor, located in the Department of Political Science at Indiana University, Bloomington.
