Morrison Heady (1829-1915), was an American blind-deaf poet and novelist who also wrote under the pseudonym Uncle Juvinell. He lost his sight in childhood and gradually turned deaf after a horse accident. He educated himself through listening to his friends readings. He was known to many of the children in his neighbourhood as Uncle Morry. His works include: The Farmer Boy and How He Became Commander-in-Chief (1863), Seen and Heard (1869), Burl (1884), The Red Moccasins (1901) and The Double Night and Other Poems (1901).
