Fighting Back

A young adult novel about a new member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Yosemite during the 1930s. In the Great Depression, Joseph, 18, joins the CCC with big dreams for a new life that will leave his troubled past far behind. Assigned to work at a camp in Yosemite, Joseph figures he's on his way to fulfilling his dreams and creating a life on his own, yet every high sierra sunrise brings new enemies that threaten to destroy him. Unsure where to turn for help--his best friend or a beautiful park visitor who has plans of her own for him--his troubles mount up...until he decides to fight back.
